“Embracing Life and Change
One Page at a Time…”

Suzanne Boyd
Editor-in-Chief of ZOOMER magazine

As Editor-in-Chief of ZOOMER magazine, Suzanne Boyd has successfully transformed the publication formerly known as CARP into an important and glossy new magazine, offering relevance to men and women 45plus. Suzanne’s creative and journalistic accomplishments make her a sought-after commentator on women’s issues, popular culture and entertainment news. An authority in the world of publishing and marketing, she has served on the Editorial Council of the Women’s Group of Rogers Media and was a founding member of the FDCC (Fashion Design Council of Canada) and the Innoversity summit, an annual international conference addressing diversity issues in the media.

In 1996, Suzanne became editor-in-chief of FLARE after only six years at the magazine, making her the first person of colour to head a mainstream Canadian publication. In March 2004, she was named founding editor-in-chief of Suede, a fashion-forward magazine for multi-cultural urban women, launched by Time Inc. in partnership with Essence Communications partners. The resulting hybrid was critically acclaimed and considered a groundbreaking step in fashion publishing.

Suzanne’s own brand of deeply personal journalism has appeared in Vogue, O, The Oprah Magazine and Oprah at Home, and her work has been positively profiled in Advertising Age, Fashion Week Daily, Italian Vogue, Media Week, National Post, The New York Post, The New York Times, New York Daily News and Women’s Wear Daily. In addition to numerous television and radio guest interviews, she has appeared as a panel expert and judge, as well as keynote speaker for a variety of conferences.

Born in Halifax, Suzanne has lived in Barbados, Dominica and Jamaica, where she became the avid surfer she remains today. She studied mass communications and English at York University in Toronto, where she currently resides.
