Who you are
You are a go-getter and Edmonton enthusiast with extensive photography training and experience, as well as an ability to work with on-camera talent and videographers to shoot and produce video content for TikTok and Instagram. You have a passion for capturing people, places and things happening in Edmonton with a focus on lifestyle and culture that includes but is not exclusive to: news, events, food and restaurants, nightlife, shopping, local travel and outdoors; an ability to edit photo content on Lightroom and/or Photoshop, video content on Adobe Premiere Pro and/or a familiarity with CapCut is also an asset.
What you'll do
- Shoot and edit photos to support the web team as well as social media team for Instagram and/or other photo platforms.
- Create and/or assist in the production of original vertical video content as applicable.
- Flex your creative muscles by generating and pitching content ideas, and operate in an organized and efficient manner while scheduling shoots and other pre-production activities.
- Travel on assignment around the city to create content and act as a brand ambassador for ZDN’s brands.
- Collaborate with other team members including editors, reporters and videographers, and participate in regular meetings via Google Meet.
- Operate in a fast paced environment with quick turnarounds and deadlines.
What you have
- Proven experience shooting and editing lifestyle and culture photography.
- Experience creating photo and/or video content for Instagram and TikTok.
- Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and succeed in a fast paced environment, as well as work collaboratively with the team to bring ideas to life
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work unconventional hours, evenings and weekends totalling 40-hours per week.
- Familiarity with the Google Suite and basic video equipment
- A Familiarity with Lightroom and/or Photoshop
- A familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and/or CapCut is an asset.
- Experience working in a digital newsroom or for a digital lifestyle or food publication is an asset.
- Writing and/or reporting experience and/or experience working as a photojournalist is an asset.
