Who We Are
ZoomerMedia owns and operates media across all platforms — TV, radio, print and digital — through leading brands: blogTO, Daily Hive, Curiocity, The Peak, MobileSyrup, Vision TV, The New Classical 96.3 FM, Zoomer Radio, Zoomer Magazine, the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP), and more. Founded by television and media icon Moses Znaimer in 2008, Zoomer is a multiplatform media company devoted to creating content and experiences for Canada's most powerful audiences: the 18.1 million people aged 45-plus aka "Zoomers", and the 15.1 million Millennials and Gen Zs, coincidentally also called Zoomers, who follow in their footsteps.
Zoomer Digital Network is ZoomerMedia’s new digital media division with the acquisitions of Canada’s largest brands such as blogTO, Daily Hive, Curiocity and many more.
Who You Are
You have an insatiable curiosity for Edmonton’s local scene — from the newest restaurants making waves to the can't-miss events and lifestyle stories shaping the city. In this hybrid role, you’ll split your time between covering Edmonton’s food and drink scene for Dished Edmonton and diving into the city’s lifestyle, events, and cultural happenings for Curiocity Edmonton. You're just as excited to break the news about a buzzy new opening as you are to spotlight an establishment that's been quietly serving the community for years. You're a confident writer, a natural storyteller, and a culture-savvy content creator who thrives in a fast-paced digital newsroom and loves being on the pulse of what’s new, next, and uniquely Edmonton.
What You'll Do
- Report and write fresh, on-brand, and credible content while ensuring accuracy, timely reporting, and engaging storytelling across multiple platforms.
- Write multiple pieces daily and ensure consistent content cadence for both brands.
- Pitch feasible stories daily and take assignments from your editor that align with Dished/Curiocity’s editorial focus.
- Ensure articles follow company guidelines, including proper sourcing, fact-checking, and adherence to the Dished/Curiocity’s style guide.
- Conduct necessary research, including interviews, event coverage, and staying informed on lifestyle/food trends and the local dining scene.
- Create written content using strong visual storytelling and platform best practices. Select, edit, or shoot high-quality images and videos to accompany stories.
- Monitor article performance and adjust content strategy based on engagement metrics and audience behaviour.
- Occasionally host or appear on-camera for social media content, video segments, or event coverage.
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices to enhance content strategy.
- Attend events and tastings on behalf of the Company during work hours, evenings, and sometimes weekends.
- Maintain a deep understanding of your assigned city’s lifestyle/food and beverage scene, from fine dining to casual eats.
- Be a team player and collaborate with editors, social media managers, photographers, and videographers to produce compelling content.
- Other tasks as assigned by your manager.
The role’s duties and responsibilities enclosed within are not an exhaustive list and are subject to change. Your manager may ask you to assist with other tasks from time to time.
What You Have
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Proven professional experience as a digital reporter, ideally covering food, lifestyle, culture, or news with a strong focus on Edmonton.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio that showcases your ability to produce clean, engaging, and accurate content in a fast-paced digital environment.

- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to attend events, tastings, and openings.
- Familiarity with Google Suite; experience with Adobe Photoshop or basic photo editing tools is a plus.
- On-camera experience and a strong understanding of social media best practices are also an advantage.
