Who You Are
You are a writer with a strong passion for lifestyle, music, culture, and the local events scene, and your finger on the pulse of changing trends around Toronto and Ontario. You are the one in your friend group everyone looks to for weekend plan suggestions, and always knows the cool new place or secret pop-up before it gets media coverage.
What You'll Do
- Pitch and write lifestyle and events content ranging from 15-20 articles per week
- Use analytics to pitch story ideas that are compelling and will drive conversation in Toronto
- Conduct necessary research required to produce content, which may include but is not limited to conducting interviews and attending events
- Increase credibility of the company through quality, trustworthy, and ethical work.
- Moderate events submissions
- Curate “Things to do” lists
- Assign and coordinate with photographers to cover cultural events
- Create and send events newsletters
- Attend events, ranging from festivals to concerts, as a company representative, sometimes outside of normal working hours
- Other tasks as assigned by your manager
What You Have
- A strong sense of event and lifestyle trends in Toronto
- An understanding of viral trends and products and where to find them locally
- The ability to write in a conversational tone while providing informative narratives
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude when representing the company at events
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience as a writer or reporter
- Understanding of social media and SEO and their importance to publishing
- Skilled with photography, and photo editing is an asset
- Ability to efficiently and effectively proofread and edit content.
