Who You Are
The Finance Manager is responsible for financial reporting, planning, and analysis across the organization. This role ensures accurate and timely financial information while serving as a strategic partner to business leaders. The Finance Manager leads a team of finance professionals, drives process improvements, maintains strong internal controls, and supports the CFO in achieving financial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Own the month-end and quarter-end close process across multiple business units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and management reports with comprehensive variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and document key processes
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budget process in collaboration with business unit leaders
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and long-term financial outlook, analyzing performance against plan
- Develop business cases and financial models to evaluate strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
- Prepare and present monthly KPIs and financial dashboards to senior management
Business Partnership
- Build strong relationships with business unit leaders to deeply understand their operations
- Lead monthly business reviews, highlighting financial performance, key trends, and actionable insights
- Act as a strategic partner to identify efficiencies, cost optimization, and revenue growth opportunities
- Provide decision support for strategic planning and operational improvements
Cash Management & Compliance
- Oversee cash management for the organization, including preparation of rolling monthly cash flow forecasts
- Coordinate the annual external audit, serving as key point of contact for auditors
- Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and statutory remittances (HST, EHT, WSIB, corporate taxes)
- Review and approve payroll processing to ensure accuracy
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of financial analysts and accountants
- Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining oversight and accountability
- Provide regular feedback, performance evaluations, and professional development support
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement
